Internet privacy has become a major area of concern in the last few years. Advances in computer technology facilitate tracking consumer purchases and website visits, and in general aid interested parties in the development of various personal profiles. In an effort to determine how the general population of Internet users feel about Internet privacy, and which perspectives represent their own, the study described here has been conducted. Using advanced conjoint analysis methodology helped in identifying segments with different kinds of concerns within the population of Internet users. The study provides marketing directors and public policy makers with insights as to how to optimize the impact of messages directed at various segments in trying to alleviate concerns about Internet privacy.
